In May 2017, the European Copper Institute (ECI) published Decarb Europe - Connecting technologies for a cleaner future. This report is a call for action, demonstrating there are mature and competitive technologies which can support European efforts to reach COP21 GHG targets while improving energy performances.

Sasol Italy's implementation of Advanced Process Controls

Sasol Italy implemented an energy efficiency improvement project based on the application of Advanced Process Control ("APC") technologies in its factory at Augusta (Siracusa, Italy).

This stepwise approach has been successfully applied in different APC projects carried on by Sasol Italy through the involvement of external engineering company (Eascon).

McDonald's ha scelto di utilizzare il sistema universale di controllo di efficienza energetica di PowerSines per applicazioni commerciali (ComEC). ComEC controlla dinamicamente e stabilizza la tensione erogata a tutti i carichi, garantendo la fornitura di energia ad un adeguato livello di tensione, di giorno o di notte, e generando un risparmio energetico immediato fino al 18%. Inoltre, attraverso la stabilizzazione e il controllo della tensione, ComEC migliora il fattore di potenza, impedendo guasti alle apparecchiature, prolungando la loro vita e riducendo i costi di manutenzione.

Ein entsprechender Rahmenvertrag mit WiRo Consultants wurde bereits vor einiger Zeit unterzeichnet.

"Building InSigits": a special application for monitoring and energy management in the Greek chemical industry

A chemical industrial plant during its lifetime installs new productive equipment of different types and technologies, as well as develops new production processes. These events lead to non-rational use of energy. This problem was addressed from a well-known Greek chemical industry by installing a special application for monitoring and energy management known as "Building InSigits" (installation by Innoven) in order to taken the right decisions that will lead to energy cost savings.

Bayer Material Science will in the future need far less energy for the majority of its global production. This is being made possible by a home-grown energy management system. Its introduction has now been completed. It enables the individual consumption of the production plants to be optimally controlled and reduced by an average of a tenth, and also brings about considerable reductions in CO2 emissions. The system, which is called STRUCTese, can also be used by other companies under license.
