Annex Reckitt Benckiser

Reckitt Benckiser and E.ON Connecting Energies (ECT) entered into a long-term agreement for the on-site production and supply of heat and power for use in the Mira plant. The new 1.5 MW plant provides heat and power and saves energy costs and carbon emissions significantly.

E.ON Connecting Energies is a member of E.ON Group and specialises in integrated energy solutions for industrial, commercial and public-sector customers. The company designs, finances, installs and operates systems and equipment that deliver lasting reductions in energy consumption and CO2 emissions as well as life-time cost savings.

Under the terms of the agreement, ECT built and now owns, operates and maintains a 1.5 MW gas-fired CHP plant, located directly on Reckitt Benckiser’s site in Mira, in the North of Italy. With the CHP, ECT is generating 13 GWh of electricity and 12 GWh of heat annually for use in Reckitt Benckiser’s production processes.

Availability and productivity of the CHP are guaranteed through a data connection to ECT Remote Control Centre, which is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and ensures direct response and maximum control of the CHP. Reckitt Benckiser is saving around 20% in the annual energy cost of its Mira plant and has reduced carbon emissions by 4,300 tonnes a year.

Key Achievements for Reckitt Benckiser:

  • 20% reduction of annual energy cost
  • Lower CO₂ footprint and impact on the environment
  • Lower maintenance and operational costs for Reckitt in a non-core area – energy
  • Maximum reliability of energy supply in Italy
  • No capital investment for Reckitt Benckiser
