The Chemical Industry Federation of Finland actively promotes the competitiveness and operational preconditions of its members in Finland.


This is realised in four different areas:

  • labour market;
  • environment, health and safety;
  • education and innovation; and
  • communications.

The Chemical Industry Federation of Finland has more than 400 member companies and 13 member, cooperation and agreement associations.

The Chemical Industry Federation of Finland is a member of Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council. Global cooperation takes place via ICCA, the International Council of Chemical Associations.

sami.jpgSami Nikander works as assistant director in environment, health and safety sector of KEMIANTEOLLISUUS - the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland. His main responsibilities are in the field of sustainability management, including management systems, energy and material efficiency, LCA, carbon and water foot printing, supply chain management and the chemical industry Responsible Care programme.

Sami has almost 15 years experience in the sustainability management area including development of energy efficiency agreements for small- and medium-sized chemical companies, development of integrated management systems, and development of calculating methodology for supply chain carbon and energy footprints. Sami is also head of the Finnish delegation in the development of environmental management tools (ISO/TC 207) and a Finnish delegate on development of sustainability criteria for biomass.
